Radio
Radio was widely used by ships transmitting messages via Morse code. They became very popular due to the accuracy and speed resulting from the voice communication. This was greatly used during the wartime by radio operators who would warn the soldiers for any attacks such as an attack of poisonous gas. This would give them time to to grab gas masks and protect themselves.

TanksThe idea of tanks first came from the development of farming vehicles with the purpose of crossing difficult land using caterpillar tracks. Tanks were used for the first time in the Battle of Flers-Courcelette in 1915 by the British army

Gambling
In 1917-18 the entire time wasn't spent fighting and battling. During the times where nothing was happening, they would have to find stuff to pass time along. One of the most popular form of entertainment was gambling. Soldier often had a deck of cards with them on hand during the day so they would create different games like Crown and Anchor. In this game the sheet is divided into six squares. One square has a crown on it (known as the sergeant major) and another square has an anchor on it (known as the mud hook.) The other four squares are filled with the hearts, spades, clubs, and diamonds. Another common game played amongst the men was Housey-Housey, other known as Bingo today.

Machine Guns
Machine guns were commonly used in 1914 with the aid of flat tripods. They would require a four to six operative team to use and it was able to sustain fire of 450-600 rounds per minute. They had the equivalent power of firing the same way as 100 guns.
