The cause that most implemented World War I was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary in Sarajevo. Other causes of WWI were imperialism, militarism, nationalism, and joining allies.
The reason the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary caused WWI is related to why he was assassinated. His assassination was done by a Serbian nationalist named Gavrilo Princip in hopes of taking away control of the region from Austria-Hungary. Serbia wanted control of Bosnia and Herzegovina and in order to get control they protested by murdering Ferdinand. This stirred the nation into declaring war with Serbia and their allied country Russia. But with all the allies, this caused the war to expand more and more. Imperialism also had an effect when Europe was colonizing in Africa and Asia in order to get their resources. This later led into confrontation and a push into war. Militarism also involved countries into war because of the increase of established military. Lastly Nationalism led into the war as well because of all the nations need in gaining dominance and pride.
